About Onni Coffee

Onni Coffee is a specialty coffee brand that started in New York in 2022. Started by a self-confessed coffee geek since 2016, Janne, Onni Coffee first served a hyper local segment of consumers and supermarkets around the Queensboro bridge area in New York City by roasting and delivering specialty coffee.

Due to family reasons, I'm now in Finland during 2024. I decided to bring a piece of New York with me and for a limited time, I'm selling a NYC branded specialty coffee product in Finland.

Besides the branding that aims to capture life on the streets of the energizing, caffeinated city that never sleeps, the coffee itself is top notch specialty grade coffee. I've partnered with Inka Paahtimo, an artisan roaster based in Helsinki, with a decade of experience in sourcing and roasting coffees of exceptional quality. Together, we chose coffees that capture the spirit and attitude of New York City.

Finding Inspiration in Specialty Coffee

Somewhere around 2016, after a family visit to the harmoniously beautiful organic coffee farm Mesa de los Santos in Santander in Colombia, I started to develop a serious fascination with all things related to coffee. I started learning everything I can about coffee and the industry. I started reading coffee books, going to specialty coffee expos, taking coffee classes, visiting boutique coffee shops and farms in the origin countries and getting to know people in the industry. I even started farming my own coffee in Colombia (where my wife, Nathaly, is from). I wanted to understand everything about coffee.

I felt a similar beginner's enthusiam when life took us to New York City in 2020. Even though the city was a shadow itself due to the global pandemic, I felt that energy that so many people feel when coming to this magical city. Onni Coffee Bridge Blend is a culmination of my passion for coffee and a tribute to New York City.
